“Write this in your book…”
I have been keeping a journal off and on since I was 10 years old. As I grew older, the journal became less a narrative of day to day life and more a tool I’d use on very rare occasions when I really needed to vent (usually about serious rage or pain I was experiencing). I’m certain that if any stranger were to do a chronological review of the contents of my journals from over the years, they’d conclude that I had transformed from a normal little girl into an unstable, ranting lunatic. This is mildly amusing to me, but more so to my beloved “A” (I’ll preserve our anonymity) who, after learning about my “secret”, now teases me whenever my temper flares by asking if I’ll be writing in my book about whatever it was that set me off. While this is all said in jest, it has made me aware that it might be a good exercise to keep a journal that’s a little more balanced. (Perhaps it will even be something that’s safe for public consumption… meaning our future grandchildren won’t wonder if they have a history of emotional problems in the family. If not, I'll just keep this, like my journals, to myself.) It's in this spirit that I start my blog.
